AC Outlets

AC outlet count is the number of mains-power sockets available for connected equipment.

The count describes physical connections. It is separate from the total electrical load the unit can supply and from any division into outlet groups.

AC Outlets — Power Regenerator

On a power regenerator, the outlets provide connections for components receiving its output supply. Different outlets or groups may have different switching arrangements or power limits, so the total does not necessarily describe identical connections.

Compare the socket count with the components to be connected, then check outlet type, spacing and the regenerator’s total load rating. Eight sockets do not imply eight times the unit’s rated power. Keep any separately identified regenerated or bypass outlets distinct.

AC Outlets — Power Filter

On a power filter, outlet count helps establish how many components can connect directly. The sockets may be divided into separately filtered, switched or high-current groups with different intended uses.

Compare the group arrangement as well as the total, particularly when large plugs or power adaptors occupy adjacent space. The outlet count does not establish the total permitted current or guarantee a separate filtering circuit for each socket. Check the unit’s shared load limit before populating all outlets.
