AM Antenna Input

AM Antenna Input counts the external antenna connections provided for AM radio reception on a tuner.

The connection commonly uses terminals for a loop or wire antenna. It is an input for a radio-frequency signal, not an audio connection to an amplifier. An antenna input and the antenna supplied with the tuner are separate parts of the specification.

AM Antenna Input — Tuner

Use the antenna type and terminal arrangement specified for the tuner. Its position and orientation can affect reception, and nearby electrical equipment can introduce interference. A socket count does not describe reception sensitivity, the quality of the received station or whether an outdoor antenna is suitable.

Check AM separately from FM and DAB connections, even when they appear together on the rear panel. A built-in antenna does not count as an external input. Multiple terminals may form one antenna connection rather than several independent inputs, so compare the documented arrangement instead of counting each terminal as a receiver path.
