AM Tuning Range
The lowest and highest medium-wave AM broadcast frequencies a tuner can receive, usually stated in kilohertz.
AM tuning range gives the frequency limits of the tuner’s medium-wave band. A range such as 530–1710 kHz describes where it can tune, not the range of audio frequencies heard through the speakers. One kilohertz equals 1,000 hertz.
AM Tuning Range — Tuner
For a tuner, check that the stations you want fall inside the listed range for your regional version. A broader range may include additional broadcast frequencies, but does not make stations stronger or clearer. Keep any stated sales region attached to its range.
Also check the tuning step: a station inside the endpoints may still fall between the available tuning increments. Compare range and step together when using an imported tuner. Long-wave and short-wave coverage are separate features; an AM medium-wave range alone does not establish either.
