Android Version
The major Android operating-system release running on a digital audio player, including a documented later update.
Android version identifies the player’s operating-system generation. It affects which apps can run and which platform features they can use. The major number groups releases such as Android 8.0 and 8.1 together; minor releases can still matter for compatibility.
Android Version — Digital Audio Player
On a digital audio player, check the full installed version against the requirements of your streaming or music apps. A newer Android release may support apps that an older release cannot install, but the version number alone does not guarantee access to a particular service or app store.
Compare the maker’s available updates and support commitments as well as the shipped version. A promised future update is not an installed release. Android version does not specify audio resolution, and requirements for a companion phone app describe the phone, not the player.
