Interchangeable Armboard
Whether the turntable’s tonearm mounting board or base can be exchanged to accommodate different arm fittings.
An interchangeable armboard changes the interface between the deck and tonearm. It differs from an interchangeable headshell or arm wand, which changes a part of the arm rather than its mounting to the turntable.
Interchangeable Armboard — Turntable
For a Turntable, an interchangeable armboard can make a different tonearm installation possible without replacing the deck. The alternative board must provide the correct fixing pattern and place the arm at the required distance from the spindle.
Check the supported boards or bases and the arms they accommodate. A removable component is not automatically offered in alternative mountings. Likewise, an adjustable or replaceable arm wand does not establish that the deck’s armboard can be exchanged.
Check options against the exact arm. Nominal length alone is insufficient, and geometry or clearance can limit compatibility. Interchangeability does not guarantee every arm fits or that a change improves playback.
