Balance Control

Balance control lets you adjust the relative volume of the left and right channels.

A “Yes” confirms that adjustment is available. It may use a knob, menu setting or remote function. Channel balance measured in decibels (dB) is a different specification: it describes how closely the channel levels match.

Balance Control — Preamp

In a line preamp, balance changes the relative levels sent on to the power amplifier. This can help when speaker placement or your listening position makes one side sound louder. If the left side is louder, adjust toward the right until the levels sound more even.

Check the manual for the adjustment range and whether balance works in the listening mode you use. Some direct or bypass modes disable it. Two preamps marked “Yes” need not offer the same range or controls.
