Battery Bypass / Desktop Mode
Battery bypass mode powers a portable audio player from an external supply while taking its battery out of the operating power path.
Often called desktop or DC mode, it allows extended use at a desk without continually drawing operating power from the battery. Playing while charging does not, by itself, establish that the battery is bypassed.
Battery Bypass / Desktop Mode — Digital Audio Player
Use this feature when a digital audio player will stay connected to external power. Check the required supply, connection and mode setting; insufficient external power may prevent bypass operation. Battery-level conditions may also cause the player to charge despite the selected mode.
Compare the actual power behaviour rather than the presence of a USB or DC socket. A charging limit and a bypass mode do different jobs. Higher headphone power, USB audio operation and battery-free startup are separate capabilities: the desktop-mode label alone does not promise any of them.
