Bluetooth Version
Bluetooth version identifies the revision of the Bluetooth specification supported by the device.
It is separate from the audio codecs, connection roles and individual features implemented. A version number alone does not describe the complete wireless audio capability.
Bluetooth Version — Headphone
For headphones, the version is one part of the wireless interface specification. Receiving codecs, multipoint and listening features need their own support statements.
Compare the functions required with the source rather than choosing by version number alone. A newer revision does not automatically mean a particular codec, lower latency or longer range in the intended environment.
Bluetooth Version — Digital Audio Player
For a portable player, the version describes its Bluetooth implementation while transmit and receive functions remain separate capabilities. A player may offer different audio options in each direction.
Compare the intended direction, codec support and source or headphone compatibility. A version number does not establish that both transmission and reception are present or that every optional feature associated with the revision is implemented.
Bluetooth Version — Tuner
For a tuner, the Bluetooth version describes the specified wireless protocol revision. It does not identify radio broadcast bands or replace a statement of Bluetooth audio-reception support.
Compare the actual audio role and codec support with the phone or other device to be used. Do not infer headphone transmission, multipoint or a particular sound quality from the version number alone.
