Built-In Microphone

Built-in Microphone indicates whether headphones include a microphone for calls or voice-assistant use.

The microphone captures the wearer’s voice and sends it through a supported connection to a phone, computer or other device. It may be placed in an earcup, earpiece, cable or boom. This field does not describe microphones used only for noise cancellation.

Built-In Microphone — Headphone

Check that voice input works with the connection you intend to use. A headphone may support calls over Bluetooth but not through every analogue or USB connection. Compatible sockets, contact wiring and device support matter, especially when separate headphone and microphone inputs are involved.

Presence alone does not measure speech clarity, background-noise rejection or call quality. Microphone position, the surrounding noise and processing all affect the result. A listed microphone also does not guarantee a mute control, a removable boom or compatibility with every voice assistant; those are separate details to confirm.
