Built-In A/D (USB Digitising)

Whether the phono stage includes an analogue-to-digital converter for recording records through a digital output.

An ADC converts the analogue music signal into digital data. A DAC performs the opposite conversion, so a digital input does not establish recording support.

Built-In A/D (USB Digitising) — Phono Preamp

In a Phono Preamp, a built-in ADC provides a way to copy records to a computer or another compatible recorder without a separate converter. The phono stage still performs its cartridge amplification and record equalisation functions.

Look for an explicitly described recording output, often USB. A USB socket used only for power, firmware updates or playback is not the same feature. Check the supported recording connection and any required software before choosing a setup.

Compare the available recording formats and level controls separately. The presence of an ADC does not specify its recording resolution, prevent recording overload or indicate that the product can store recordings without an external device.
