Built-In CD Ripper

Whether the server includes a CD drive that can copy audio CDs into its music library.

Ripping creates stored audio files from a disc. A drive that only plays CDs does not establish that ripping is supported.

Built-In CD Ripper — Music Server

A built-in ripper lets a Music Server add CDs without a separate computer or external disc drive. The resulting files can then be browsed and played through the server’s library software, subject to its supported formats and storage arrangement.

“Yes” means the ripping drive is included in the server. Support for an optional USB CD drive describes a different arrangement. Missing information should remain unknown rather than being treated as “No”.

When comparing servers, check where ripped files are saved and which file formats are available. A built-in ripper describes convenience and function; it does not establish backup protection or guarantee more accurate copies.
