Banana Plug Termination
Banana Termination counts the banana plugs fitted to a loudspeaker cable.
A banana plug inserts into a compatible speaker terminal and provides a removable electrical connection. The count describes fitted connectors, not cable length, conductor size or the number of speakers that can be driven. Check whether the count covers one cable or a supplied pair.
Banana Plug Termination — Speaker Cable
Match the plugs to terminals that explicitly accept them. Some terminals use another connection method, and a similar-looking opening does not establish compatibility. Keep left and right channels and positive and negative connections correctly identified, following the amplifier and speaker instructions with power off before changing wiring.
A cable can have banana plugs at both ends or mixed terminations, so inspect the arrangement at each end. More plugs may reflect a bi-wire layout rather than extra independent channels. Connector count does not measure contact quality or sound quality, and it does not establish the cable’s suitability for every terminal or installation.
