Bare Wire / Unterminated

Bare-Wire Supply indicates whether a loudspeaker cable is supplied without fitted end connectors.

Unterminated cable needs its ends prepared for a supported connection method. This differs from a finished cable whose plugs can be removed. The feature does not state conductor area, strand count or how much insulation should be stripped for a particular terminal.

Bare Wire / Unterminated — Speaker Cable

Check that the amplifier and speaker terminals accept bare wire of the cable’s size. Follow their preparation instructions with equipment powered off, keeping loose strands from bridging terminals or touching the chassis. Only the intended clamping area should contact exposed conductor.

Allow for the cable route and any preparation at its ends when choosing length. Bare-wire supply can permit a tailored length, but it does not guarantee that the cable is suitable for in-wall use or terminations. The absence of plugs is a supply and connection detail, not a ranking of sound quality; secure compatible connections and appropriate conductor sizing still matter.
