Inductance
Cable inductance describes the magnetic energy storage associated with current in the specified conductor arrangement.
It is often stated per unit length. The signal-and-return geometry and measurement basis affect the value; total inductance also depends on cable length.
Inductance — Speaker Cable
For a loudspeaker cable, inductance contributes to the electrical impedance between the amplifier and speaker, with its effect increasing with frequency. The complete loop includes signal and return conductors.
Compare the same loop or conductor basis and actual run length. A per-metre value is not the total, and inductance should be considered with resistance and capacitance rather than used as a standalone sound-quality ranking.
Inductance — XLR Cable
For an XLR cable, conductor arrangement determines the inductance of the specified signal path. A quoted value may depend on which conductors are combined or measured.
Compare the same measurement basis and units per length. Balanced wiring and shield construction are separate details, and a single inductance number does not describe the complete source-to-input behaviour.
Inductance — RCA Cable
For an RCA cable, inductance belongs to the signal-and-return arrangement. The return geometry is part of the circuit rather than an unrelated outside feature.
Compare equivalent per-length or complete-cable measurements. Keep inductance distinct from resistance and capacitance; one unusually small value does not establish the behaviour of the complete interconnect.
