Phono Cable Balanced (XLR) Option
Balanced Phono Option indicates whether a phono cable offers a balanced XLR termination for a supported cartridge and phono-stage arrangement.
The cable must carry the cartridge signals using the wiring required by the balanced input. This is more than changing the shape of a plug. The cartridge, tonearm wiring and phono stage all need to support the intended connection; the option is relevant to low-output moving-coil setups.

Check the input wiring and grounding requirements before choosing the termination. An XLR connector alone does not prove that the whole signal path is balanced-compatible. An adapter from an existing RCA connection may retain a shared return and cannot be assumed to create the required arrangement.
The feature does not guarantee lower hum or better sound everywhere. Cable routing, shielding and the phono stage’s design still matter. Keep the option separate from the number of plugs, cartridge output level and loading requirements, and use the connection approved for the equipment.
