Phono Cable Source-End Termination

Phono Source Termination identifies the plug at the tonearm or turntable end of a phono cable.

The connection may use RCA plugs or a tonearm DIN plug, including straight and angled versions. This is the source end of the cable, separately from the plugs that connect to the phono stage. A named connector family does not establish every mechanical or wiring detail.

Check the tonearm socket, pin assignment and clearance beneath or behind the turntable. An angled plug may suit a restricted space, but its orientation and strain relief must fit the installation. Do not force a connector because its shape appears correct.

Confirm how the signal returns and any separate grounding lead are arranged. A matching plug does not by itself prove balanced operation or compatibility with every cartridge and phono input. The termination describes the connection, not cable capacitance or shielding performance; those properties need separate consideration where the cartridge and phono stage specify requirements.
