USB Cable Source Connector

The USB source connector is the fitting at the host end of the cable.

The host is the device controlling the USB connection, commonly a computer or compatible music source. USB-A and USB-C identify plug shapes rather than complete performance specifications.

USB Cable Source Connector — SFP USB Cable

On an optical USB link, the source-end connector must fit the host port and the assembly must support the required host-to-device connection. A directional cable should be connected with its marked source end at the host.

Compare the source connector with the available host socket, then confirm the supported USB data mode and any power requirements. A physical adaptor does not automatically add an unsupported USB role or data capability. Keep the host-end connector distinct from the device-end connector, which may use a different fitting.
