Chassis Concept

The overall structural approach used to support and isolate the turntable’s main assemblies.

Chassis concepts include rigid constructions, suspended subchassis arrangements and separate support structures. The classification describes architecture rather than a performance ranking, and should follow the stated design rather than appearance or weight alone.

Chassis Concept — Turntable

For a Turntable, chassis concept helps explain how the platter, arm and motor are supported relative to one another. A sprung subchassis differs from a rigid plinth, while an open arrangement may use separate towers or supports.

Read the manufacturer’s description of the load-bearing structure. Damping feet do not automatically make a deck a suspended-subchassis design. Likewise, a heavy enclosure is not enough to establish a deliberately mass-loaded concept, and pneumatic support requires an actual stated air-based arrangement.

Compare installation requirements, including levelling and suspension adjustment. No concept is universally superior. The label does not quantify vibration rejection, bearing noise or speed stability; those require more specific information.
