Clock Oscillator Type
Clock oscillator type describes the technology used to generate the device’s timing reference.
A TCXO compensates for temperature-related frequency changes; an OCXO controls the oscillator’s temperature using an oven. These describe approaches to frequency stability rather than complete audio-performance ratings.
Clock Oscillator Type — USB Reclocker
In a USB reclocker, the oscillator provides a timing reference used by the clocking circuitry. The oscillator technology is one part of that design, alongside the way the incoming signal and output timing are handled.
Compare stated frequency stability and jitter under comparable conditions rather than ranking oscillator names alone. A “femto” description generally points to a timing claim or product label, not a universally defined oscillator architecture. Check the actual measurement and conditions when a performance number matters; oscillator type alone does not establish the result at the audio output.
