Conductor Material
Conductor material is the metal used in the specified electrical conductor.
It is separate from connector plating, outer jacket material and conductor geometry. A composite or plated conductor should retain that construction detail.
Conductor Material — HDMI Cable
For an HDMI cable, conductor material describes its electrical conductors. An active optical design can combine fibre transmission with remaining metal paths.
Compare which paths the material claim covers. It does not identify optical-fibre composition or establish the supported video mode, bandwidth or return-channel capability.
Conductor Material — Power Cable
For a power cable, conductor material concerns the metal carrying supply current. Connector contacts and surface plating can use different materials.
Compare the material with conductor cross-section and the finished cable’s electrical rating. Material alone does not establish allowable current, and a connector-plating claim should not be applied to the cable conductors.
Conductor Material — USB Cable
For a USB cable, different conductor groups can carry power and data. The material description should identify the relevant part of the assembly.
Compare material with wire size and the supported complete cable specification. It does not by itself establish USB speed or available charging power; contact plating is a separate detail.
Conductor Material — Ethernet Cable
For an Ethernet cable, conductor material describes the metal forming its electrical pairs. Solid or stranded construction is a separate description.
Compare the actual material and cable rating for the intended network installation. A copper surface over another metal is not the same construction as a solid copper conductor, and material alone does not identify category performance.
Conductor Material — RCA Cable
For an RCA cable, the signal and return paths may use the same or different conductor constructions. A material claim needs the relevant conductor identified.
Compare bulk material separately from plating, purity and cross-section. Those details contribute to the finished cable but none alone establishes its capacitance, shielding performance or audible result.
Conductor Material — BNC Cable
For a BNC cable, the centre conductor and surrounding conductor can use different materials or constructions. The complete arrangement forms the coaxial signal path.
Compare which conductor is described and keep contact plating separate. Material alone does not establish characteristic impedance; geometry and dielectric properties are also required.
Conductor Material — Speaker Cable
For a loudspeaker cable, conductor material contributes to resistance together with conductor area and length. The return path forms part of the same electrical circuit.
Compare resistance for the actual cable length and cross-section rather than ranking material names alone. Connector plating and outer braid material do not necessarily describe the current-carrying conductor.
Conductor Material — Phono Cable
For a phono cable, conductor material describes the metal carrying the cartridge signal in the specified paths. Shields or ground leads can use separate constructions.
Compare the complete cable properties, particularly capacitance where cartridge loading requires it. A material name alone does not establish low noise or the correct loading, and contact plating is a different feature.
Conductor Material — S/PDIF Cable
For an electrical S/PDIF cable, conductor material describes the metal signal paths. An optical cable carries the signal through fibre and needs a different material description.
Compare like-for-like electrical constructions and retain the intended characteristic impedance. Metal used for an optical connector housing is not an electrical audio conductor in the fibre link.
Conductor Material — XLR Cable
For an XLR cable, conductor material describes the internal signal conductors rather than the connector shell. The shield can use another material or construction.
Compare material alongside conductor area and cable capacitance. A named metal does not itself establish balanced operation or common-mode rejection, which depend on the complete connection.
Conductor Material — SFP USB Cable
For an optical USB assembly, conductor material describes the remaining electrical paths, such as power or supported control connections. It does not describe the light-carrying fibre.
Compare the part covered by the material claim and keep it separate from fibre-core material. An optical data path can coexist with metal conductors, so the material list alone does not prove galvanic isolation.
