Conductor Purity

Conductor purity is the proportion of the stated conductor material, expressed as a percentage.

It is a metallurgical description. It is separate from the conductor’s cross-section, length, surface plating and the finished cable’s electrical measurements.

Conductor Purity — RCA Cable

For an RCA cable, purity describes the specified signal-conductor material rather than every metal part in the assembly. Connector plating or an outer shield can use different materials and should not be mistaken for the conductor itself.

Compare percentages on the same basis and retain any stated measurement or material conditions. A high purity figure alone does not establish lower finished-cable resistance, effective shielding or an audible improvement. A percentage without identifying the material and part being described leaves the construction ambiguous; do not infer those details from a marketing label.
