Conversion Type
Conversion Type describes the broad method a DAC uses to turn digital audio into an analog signal. It is a design category, not a sound-quality score.
Examples include converter chips, discrete resistor ladders and programmable conversion circuits. “Discrete” means separate components rather than a converter chip. DAC Converter names the particular chip or design; Converter Layout describes how converters serve the channels.

This catalogue follows the path used for PCM (pulse-code modulation), even when DSD (Direct Stream Digital) has a separate path. An empty entry means the type is undocumented, not that conversion is absent.
For surround processors, “AV processor” takes priority over the conversion technology. That is a catalogue grouping, not a conversion method. Stereo HDMI ARC alone, or multichannel music playback without surround decoding, does not qualify.
Compare noise and distortion figures and check that the inputs and outputs suit your system. Architecture alone cannot settle those choices.
