Crossover Point Setting

The method used to set an active crossover’s dividing frequencies, such as fixed settings, switches, modules, knobs or software.

Crossover frequency adjustment describes how you choose the transition between frequency bands. It is separate from the available frequencies themselves. A setting may be fixed at manufacture, chosen in steps, varied continuously or entered through a digital control system.

Crossover Point Setting — Crossover

On an active crossover, the adjustment method determines how easily you can match its band divisions to the loudspeaker system. External switches offer defined positions; a continuously variable knob allows settings between them. Plug-in modules or internal jumpers may require a different configuration procedure.

Compare the available frequency range, step sizes and adjustment method together. Software control does not automatically provide every frequency or filter shape, while a fixed unit may be designed for one particular speaker. Follow the maker’s procedure for internal changes; the control method alone does not define crossover slope.
