Glossary term
Bias System (DBS)
A dielectric-bias system uses a battery supply to apply a static electric field to a cable’s insulation.
DBS is a named cable feature. Its bias arrangement is separate from the conductors carrying the audio signal; the battery does not power the connected loudspeaker.
Bias System (DBS) — Speaker Cable
On a loudspeaker cable, this field identifies the presence of the dielectric-bias battery system. The pack and its maintenance are additional physical features of the cable assembly.
Compare the actual fitted system and any stated battery requirements. This yes-or-no feature does not quantify an audible benefit, establish cable resistance or replace the amplifier-to-speaker connection requirements.
