DC Output Polarity
DC Output Polarity identifies which contacts of a power-supply output are positive and negative.
For a barrel connector, centre-positive means that the centre contact is positive relative to the outer contact. Other connectors require their own pin assignments. Polarity is separate from output voltage and connector size; all of them must match the powered device’s requirements.
DC Output Polarity — Power Supply
Confirm the polarity specified by both the device and the supply before connecting them. A plug that fits is not proof of compatibility, and reversing polarity can damage equipment. Do not assume that similar products or connectors from the same brand share a wiring arrangement.
Check any interchangeable plug or adapter as part of the complete connection, since it can change the contact assignment. The presence of protection circuitry does not make an incorrect connection acceptable. Keep polarity information alongside the exact output and cable being used rather than treating it as a general property of every socket on a multi-output supply.
