DC Power Input

DC power-input count states how many connections accept an external direct-current power supply.

The count describes physical supply inputs. It does not specify voltage, current, polarity or whether multiple inputs provide alternative or simultaneous power paths.

DC Power Input — SFP Ethernet Cable

An optical Ethernet converter or active link assembly may need an external DC supply to operate its electronics. The supply connection is separate from the fibre link carrying network data.

Compare the required voltage, polarity, current capacity and connector with the actual power supply. More than one DC input does not automatically establish redundant power operation. A matching plug is insufficient if the electrical requirements differ, and the presence of an input does not mean a suitable supply is included.
