DDM / DOM Diagnostics

Digital diagnostic monitoring reports operating measurements from a compatible optical transceiver.

Available readings can include temperature, supply voltage and transmitted or received optical power. The module and host must support access to the relevant diagnostic information.

DDM / DOM Diagnostics — SFP Ethernet Cable

For an SFP Ethernet link, these readings help assess operating conditions and investigate a link problem. For example, received optical power can be checked against the receiver’s supported range rather than relying only on a link-status light.

Compare which measurements and thresholds are available and whether the host exposes them. Diagnostic support does not itself correct a faulty link or guarantee that every parameter is reported. Keep the presence of monitoring separate from the optical module’s data rate, maximum reach and compatibility with the other end.
