Interchangeable Arm Wand

An interchangeable arm wand lets you remove and replace the tonearm’s tube assembly, often with a cartridge already mounted on it.

A removable headshell only detaches the cartridge platform at the tube’s front. That alone does not make the wand interchangeable. This feature describes flexibility, not better sound.

Interchangeable Arm Wand — Tonearm

A spare wand can keep another cartridge mounted, making cartridge changes easier. Choose a wand approved for your arm model: interchangeable does not mean universal fit. A different length may require a different distance between the arm pivot and record spindle. Check the maker’s wand and cartridge matching guidance; changing the tube’s mass can change the counterweights needed.

On a complete turntable, check the fitted arm. After a swap, follow that arm’s instructions and check cartridge alignment, tracking force and arm height before playing. Do not assume the previous settings remain correct with another wand or cartridge.
