Display

A display presents information on the device itself.

It may show items such as the selected input, track, volume, operating mode or status. The presence of a display does not specify which information is available, its size or its display technology.

Compare what the screen actually shows and how it can be read from the intended listening position. Brightness control, dimming and the ability to switch it off are separate features. A status light is not necessarily an information display, and information shown only in a phone app does not mean the component has its own screen. Missing information should remain unknown rather than being treated as “no display.”
