Dolby Noise Reduction

Dolby noise reduction identifies the supported tape-noise reduction systems, such as Dolby B, C or S.

These systems use complementary recording and playback processing to reduce tape hiss. They are distinct modes, not simply different strengths of a general playback tone control.

Dolby Noise Reduction — Tape Deck

For a cassette deck, the supported modes determine which encoded recordings it can decode and which modes it can use when recording. Correct playback normally uses the mode used to make the tape.

Keep the specific B, C or S support identifiable and distinguish record from playback capability. Dolby HX Pro adjusts recording bias for headroom; it is not another playback noise-reduction mode.
