AMT Drivers (Per Side)
The number of air-motion-transformer sound drivers fitted to one headphone earpiece.
An air-motion transformer, or AMT, uses a folded diaphragm that moves air as its pleats change shape. This count describes how many such drivers are fitted per side. The folds within one diaphragm do not count as separate drivers.
AMT Drivers (Per Side) — Headphone
In a headphone, an AMT may cover a broad frequency range or work alongside other driver types. Read its assigned role with the count; the technology name alone does not tell you which part of the audio spectrum it reproduces in that design.
Compare counts on the same per-earpiece basis. Two drivers across a stereo pair mean one per side, not two in each earpiece. More AMTs do not automatically improve clarity or output. Frequency response, distortion, fit and amplifier requirements describe aspects of performance that the driver count cannot establish.
