Dynamic Drivers (Per Side)
Dynamic driver count is the number of moving-coil sound-producing drivers in one headphone earpiece.
A dynamic driver uses a voice coil to move a diaphragm. One driver may reproduce the full audible range, or dynamic drivers may work with other transducer technologies.
Dynamic Drivers (Per Side) — Headphone
This number describes the moving-coil part of the earpiece's construction. In a hybrid configuration listed as one dynamic driver plus four balanced armatures, the dynamic count is one per side. A stereo pair with one dynamic driver in each ear does not have a per-side count of two.
Compare the count alongside driver roles, diameter and the complete acoustic design. Two drivers are not automatically louder or more accurate than one. For coaxial assemblies, use the maker's stated driver count rather than guessing from visible diaphragms. A microphone, vent or passive radiator is not an additional dynamic playback driver.
