eARC Support

eARC support indicates that a connection can carry enhanced Audio Return Channel audio.

eARC sends audio from a television toward a compatible audio system through the designated HDMI connection. It is separate from ordinary source-to-display video transmission.

eARC Support — HDMI Cable

For an HDMI cable, the feature concerns the return-audio path needed between compatible eARC ports. The television and receiving audio component must also support the required function and audio format.

Compare stated eARC support for the actual cable type and length, particularly with active designs. A cable that carries video in the forward direction does not by itself establish the return path. Keep ARC and eARC capabilities distinct, and do not infer that the cable adds eARC to equipment lacking it.
