Additional EQ Curves
The record-equalization curves a phono stage supports, including standard RIAA.
Despite “additional” in the name, this list includes RIAA itself. Ordinary tone controls and subsonic filters are separate features. Flat means no record equalization.
Additional EQ Curves — Phono Preamp
Record cutting changes the balance of bass and treble; the matching playback curve reverses those changes. Some older records need a different curve from RIAA. The wrong setting changes their tonal balance.
Check evidence for the actual pressing. The record label and original recording date are clues, not proof: a later reissue may use RIAA.
Compare the curves and settings your records need, rather than the number advertised. Presets offer named curves; adjustable or parametric EQ lets you set their parameters. These can include bass turnover, the frequency below which bass is boosted, and treble roll-off, the high-frequency reduction. More curves do not guarantee better sound.
