Filter Alignment Type
Filter alignment identifies the response family used by a crossover, such as Butterworth, Bessel or Linkwitz–Riley.
The alignment determines response shape and phase behavior together with filter order. Naming the family is different from stating the crossover frequency or roll-off slope.
Filter Alignment Type — Crossover
For an active crossover, alignment affects how adjacent filtered bands overlap and combine. Some designs provide selectable families for different driver and system requirements.
Compare alignment with order, polarity and the drivers’ acoustic responses. A named electrical alignment does not alone guarantee the same acoustic sum, and a DSP implementation is a construction method rather than an alignment family.
