Filter Names

The manufacturer’s published names for a DAC’s digital filters, kept in the maker’s spelling, such as WTA or Listen.

This entry records branded names, not generic descriptions such as fast, slow, sharp, linear phase, minimum phase, apodizing or NOS. Numbered labels such as Filter 1 are excluded too. A blank entry means no branded name is documented, not that the DAC has no filtering.

Filter Names — DAC

A name helps you find the relevant explanation in the product manual. It may identify an internal filtering algorithm rather than a setting you can select, so the list does not establish the number of selectable filters.

Check the exact product’s manual for what each named filter does, whether it is selectable and which audio formats it applies to. Names alone neither establish a technical filter type nor show that one DAC sounds better than another.
