FM AM Suppression
FM AM suppression measures how effectively an FM tuner rejects unwanted amplitude changes in the received radio signal.
It is expressed in decibels. A larger value indicates greater rejection under the stated conditions; it does not describe the tuner's performance when listening to the AM broadcast band.
FM AM Suppression — Tuner
FM carries its audio through changes in frequency. Unwanted changes in amplitude can accompany the received signal, and AM suppression describes how well the tuner prevents them from affecting the recovered audio. It is one interference-related characteristic of the FM reception path.
Compare figures at the same antenna signal level and with equivalent measurement conditions. Greater suppression does not guarantee reception free of every kind of interference. It is separate from adjacent-station selectivity, FM signal-to-noise ratio and the sensitivity of an AM receiver.
