FM Frequency Response
FM frequency response describes the audio-frequency range reproduced by a tuner, with any stated level tolerance.
The range concerns the sound recovered from an FM broadcast. It is separate from the radio frequencies used to tune stations. A stated tolerance, such as a permitted variation in decibels, makes the endpoints more meaningful for comparison.
FM Frequency Response — Tuner
This specification helps show how evenly an FM tuner reproduces bass through treble under the test conditions. Values in hertz or kilohertz describe audio; an FM tuning band in megahertz describes the stations it receives. Mono and stereo measurements may differ, so the operating mode belongs with the quoted range.
Compare endpoints only alongside the same tolerance and mode. A wider range with a looser tolerance does not necessarily mean flatter reproduction. Do not substitute an amplifier's response or a streaming section's specification in a combined product. Actual broadcast content and reception conditions also affect what you hear.
