Diameter / Footprint
Footprint Diameter describes the contact size or footprint of an isolation foot on its supporting surface.
The figure may refer to the base diameter or the actual contact area, which need not be identical. A shaped foot can touch the surface over less area than its outside dimensions suggest.
Diameter / Footprint — Damping Feet
Check that the footprint sits fully on the shelf or platform and suits the equipment’s support position. Allow clearance around adjacent feet, edges and mounting hardware. The contact shape can also matter when protecting a finished surface.
Diameter alone does not establish the weight a foot can carry or the pressure at every contact point. Use the specified load range and placement instructions. If the foot is not circular, its width and depth may describe the usable footprint more clearly than one nominal diameter.
