Hardwired Output Cable

Whether the output cable is permanently attached to the product instead of connecting to output sockets.

A hardwired or captive lead is part of the product’s output connection. A detachable cable supplied in the box does not count as hardwired.

Hardwired Output Cable — Step-Up Transformer (SUT)

On a Phono Step-Up Transformer, a fixed output lead connects the transformer to the following phono stage. It removes the choice of a separate cable at that connection and makes the supplied length and termination relevant to placement.

“Yes” means the output lead is permanently attached. Output sockets indicate a detachable arrangement. A fixed input cable or ground wire alone does not establish a hardwired output, and missing information should remain unknown.

Compare the cable’s connector and reach with your phono stage and shelf layout. Leave room for its bend without strain. A captive lead is a construction choice rather than proof of better sound, and replacing it may require servicing rather than a cable swap.
