Detachable Cable

Detachable Cable indicates whether the signal cable can be unplugged from the headphone or earpiece and replaced.

A detachable connection can make it possible to replace a damaged cable without replacing the whole headphone. It also allows a compatible alternative length or source-side plug. This feature describes removal at the headphone end, not merely unplugging the cable from the player.

Replacement compatibility depends on the earcup or earpiece connector, its wiring, physical clearance and any locking arrangement. Matching the connector’s general appearance is not enough. A cable that fits mechanically may use a different pin assignment, and some headphones require a model-specific replacement.

Check whether the replacement cable is included or sold separately. Detachability alone does not establish balanced-drive support, microphone compatibility or sound quality. On a wireless headphone, a removable analogue cable also does not prove that wired playback works with an empty battery; that is a separate capability.
