4-Pin XLR Balanced Headphone Output

4-Pin XLR Headphone Output counts balanced headphone sockets that carry both left and right channels in one four-pin connector.

The arrangement provides separate connections for the two channels rather than the shared return of a conventional stereo headphone jack. It differs from a left/right pair of three-pin XLR headphone sockets and from XLR line outputs used between components.

Check that the headphone cable has the required wiring and that the headphone supports the intended connection. A plug fitting the socket is not sufficient proof. Do not assume that an adapter joining output returns is safe; use only a connection approved for the amplifier and headphone.

The socket count does not establish the output power, noise level or the amplifier’s internal circuit design. Nor does a balanced connector guarantee better sound than another supported output. Compare performance into the relevant headphone load and confirm any restrictions on using multiple outputs together, including whether they share one volume control.
