Glossary term

Headphone Output Power into 32 Ohms (Balanced)

This rating states continuous power per channel from the balanced headphone output into a 32-ohm load.

The figure belongs specifically to that output and load. It is expressed in milliwatts or watts, with the stated distortion limit and test frequency defining the measurement conditions.

Headphone Output Power into 32 Ohms (Balanced) — Digital Audio Player

On a portable player, this rating applies to the built-in amplifier’s balanced headphone connection. The headphone cable must support the player’s balanced output arrangement to use that connection.

Compare ratings at 32 ohms with the same continuous, per-channel basis and similar distortion limits. Preserve any battery, high-power or gain-mode conditions stated with the result. The single-ended output can have a different limit; its figure should not be used to describe this socket.

Headphone Output Power into 32 Ohms (Balanced) — Headphone Amp

On a headphone amplifier, this value helps assess the output available through its balanced connection. Use a compatible balanced headphone cable and connection; a balanced socket’s rating does not describe an ordinary single-ended output.

Compare continuous per-channel figures at exactly 32 ohms and under similar distortion limits. Keep any gain or operating-mode condition with the value. Do not replace this number with the single-ended rating, a peak-power figure or a measurement made into a different load.
