Headphone Output Power into 600 Ohms (Unbalanced)

This rating states continuous power per channel from a single-ended headphone output into a 600-ohm load.

High-impedance loads require more voltage for the same electrical power than lower-impedance loads. The rating is expressed in milliwatts or watts and belongs with its distortion and operating conditions.

Headphone Output Power into 600 Ohms (Unbalanced) — Headphone Amp

The figure indicates output capability into a high-impedance load and helps assess available headroom. Headphone sensitivity is still needed to relate that electrical power to sound level. A higher power rating is meaningful only when the measurements use comparable conditions.

Compare continuous single-ended power at 600 ohms, retaining gain, mode, distortion limit and channels driven. Do not substitute a balanced-output rating or a figure into another impedance. Peak or burst power is different, and adding the two channels does not produce a valid per-channel rating.
