Home Theater Bypass
Home Theater Bypass indicates whether an input can pass audio at a fixed gain (a constant amplification level), leaving volume control to an external device.
A Yes means the feature is available. Ordinary tone bypass or Source Direct does not establish this: bypassing tone controls is different from bypassing volume control.
Home Theater Bypass — Preamp
With equipment switched off, connect the surround receiver or processor’s front-left and front-right line-level pre-outs to the preamp’s designated bypass input. The preamp’s output feeds the stereo power amplifier. This lets stereo and surround systems share that amplifier and the front speakers.
In bypass, the preamp’s volume knob is inactive; use the receiver or processor’s volume, starting low. Never connect a fixed-output player directly: without local volume attenuation, playback can be dangerously loud and damage speakers. Check the manual for the assigned input and fixed-gain setting; implementations differ.
