Input / Mains Voltage

Input voltage is the electrical supply voltage the component is designed to accept.

A fixed value, selectable setting and automatic input range describe different arrangements. AC/DC type and any stated mains frequency must remain with the rating.

Input / Mains Voltage — Power Regenerator

For a power regenerator, input voltage describes the incoming supply it accepts, not the regenerated voltage delivered to connected equipment.

Compare the local supply with the unit’s stated input range or selected setting. An adjustable output does not imply an equally adjustable input, and a matching plug alone does not establish electrical compatibility.

Input / Mains Voltage — Power Amp

For a power amplifier, input voltage refers to its supply requirement rather than the audio signal voltage at its inputs. Regional versions or a voltage selector can change the applicable requirement.

Compare the actual unit’s rating and any required setting with the available supply. Keep input sensitivity and maximum audio-input voltage separate; they describe signal levels rather than mains power.

Input / Mains Voltage — Power Supply

For an external supply, input voltage describes what powers the supply itself. Its output may provide a different voltage and current to the audio component.

Compare input type and range separately from the output rating. A supply with the correct output still needs a compatible input, and output-voltage selection does not by itself establish universal mains operation.

Input / Mains Voltage — Power Filter

For a power filter, input voltage describes the supply system for which the filter is rated. It does not mean the unit converts one mains voltage into another.

Compare the intended supply voltage and frequency with the actual model. Socket fit is insufficient, and a filtering or surge-protection feature does not automatically provide voltage conversion or regulation.

Input / Mains Voltage — Preamp

For a preamplifier, input voltage describes the required electrical supply, whether supplied directly or through the specified external adaptor. It is separate from audio input levels.

Compare the correct supply arrangement and unit version. A line-input voltage specification does not describe the power requirement, and an externally powered design also needs the specified adaptor output conditions.
