Internal Storage Capacity
Internal storage capacity is the built-in space provided for music files.
It is usually stated in gigabytes or terabytes. Storage for the operating system and working memory are different from the capacity available for a music library.
Internal Storage Capacity — Music Server
For a music server, this figure identifies the installed library storage in the selected product configuration. A model sold with several drive capacities can have several valid options rather than one universal capacity.
Compare the installed capacity of the actual configuration, not merely the largest drive it could accept. A server supplied without a library drive has no included library capacity to claim. Usable space and the number of albums stored depend on formatting, other stored data and the size of the music files.
Internal Storage Capacity — Digital Audio Player
For a portable player, internal capacity provides space for music without adding a memory card. Some of the built-in storage may be used by software, applications or other data, leaving less space available for the library.
Compare the capacity of the selected model and check usable space when specified. Card expansion is additional removable storage and should not be folded into the internal figure. A song-count estimate depends on file size and is not an exact substitute for a capacity measurement.
