In-Wall / Jacket Rating

Jacket rating identifies a cable’s stated fire-performance or installation classification.

It is separate from the jacket material, electrical bandwidth and connector type. Different classifications address different installation conditions and are not interchangeable labels.

In-Wall / Jacket Rating — HDMI Cable

For an HDMI cable, the rating matters when the route has specific installation requirements, such as a concealed building run. A cable can support the required video mode while lacking the classification needed for that location.

Compare the exact marked rating with the requirements of the intended installation, including any local specification. Do not infer approval for every building route from an “in-wall” description or from the jacket’s appearance. Keep the rating for the actual cable construction and length distinct from its HDMI performance certification.
