Jitter Reduction / Suppression

Jitter reduction states how much a device attenuates specified timing variation, expressed in decibels.

The amount depends on the incoming jitter and the frequency of that variation. It describes suppression, rather than the absolute amount of jitter remaining at the output.

Jitter Reduction / Suppression — USB Reclocker

For a USB reclocker, the figure characterizes the stated regeneration or clock-processing path under a test condition. Different jitter frequencies can receive different attenuation.

Compare the same input disturbance, frequency range and measurement point. A large reduction figure does not establish low residual jitter without the initial level and the device’s own timing contribution.
