LFE / Crossover-Bypass Input

LFE / Crossover-Bypass Input indicates a subwoofer connection or mode that bypasses its internal low-pass filter for externally managed bass.

A receiver or processor can perform the crossover filtering before sending the signal to the subwoofer. Bypassing the subwoofer’s own low-pass filter avoids applying another filter. LFE also names the separate low-frequency effects channel in some surround formats; it is not synonymous with all bass.

LFE / Crossover-Bypass Input — Subwoofer

Use this path when the connected equipment performs the required bass management, following both devices’ instructions. An ordinary line output may not do that. Without suitable upstream filtering, bypassing the local low-pass filter can send the subwoofer frequencies that the intended crossover would otherwise reduce.

Check whether bypass requires a dedicated socket, a switch or a menu setting. The feature does not establish which other controls remain active. A general RCA or XLR input is not automatically an LFE bypass, and a socket label alone does not describe the complete signal path.
